TECA Celebrates First Twenty Years

TECA, Thermoelectric Cooling America Corp. was started as a Division of Borg-Warner Corp. in Chicago.  The tiny division was started as a research project sometime in the 1950's.  The exact date is lost to history.  Research was done in the areas of semi-conductor material and device fabrication for thermoelectric coolers.  The corporate strategic planners envisioned domestic refrigeration, air-conditioning, ice making and even cooling for submarines as they searched for breakthroughs in thermoelectric cooling metallurgy.

Borg-Warner Thermoelectrics worked on early projects for the military and aerospace industries.  Then, in the 1970's air-conditioning for machines, controls and electronic enclosures became the company’s defining niche upon which a business could be built.

The division was spun off exactly twenty years ago and became incorporated as Thermoelectric Cooling America Corporation also well known as TECA Corp.

The new TECA Corp. expanded its product offerings, always in the area of thermoelectric cooling, beyond solid state air-conditioning.  TECA makes full ranges of thermoelectric recirculating liquid chillers, cold plates both air cooled and liquid cooled and air-conditioners for some pretty nasty environments such as NEMA4 and NEMA4X as well as explosion proof C1D1 and C1D2.

The company still enjoys relationships with many loyal customers from the Borg-Warner days and gets new business by maintaining an eagerness to work on custom OEM cooling products in various fields such as medical, laboratory, telecommunications, automotive, automation, military and aerospace.

As we observe our 20th anniversary and look toward a bright future all of us at TECA wish you the very best.
