Radar Rack Cooling

Radar Rack Cooling:

TECA Model AHP-2259XEHC enclosure cooler is being used to cool data racks on a radar system for military use. The AHP-2259-Series can be powered from 90-264 VAC. The universal input feature makes for easy ‘plug and play’ use in various global locations. Ideal for outdoor applications, power efficiency is increased by as much as 10% in higher ambient temperatures. The AHP-2259-Series can be configured to boost cooling performance or power efficiency, depending on the goals of the end user. Also notable is TECA’s exclusive ECO Mode temperature control feature. This passive cooling feature significantly reduces the need for active cooling, and thus reduces amp draw and the overall cost of ownership.

TECA Gives Back

Donation for Outdoor Kiosk: Thermal Management

Recently, TECA was honored to have the opportunity to help non-profit with a cooling project. TECA Model AHP-1800XE fills a need for cooling the inside of a free-standing kiosk, thus protecting its electronic components. The kiosk is located in the Veterans Memorial Park in Pensacola, FL where the heat index can reach above 100F. The AHP-1800XE air conditioner has been installed and the customer reports it is functional, easy to install, and quiet.

Bill Pay Terminals, Kiosks

Kiosk cooling:

TECA Model AHP-451XE Peltier coolers are protecting over a dozen customized bill-pay kiosks. This example illustrates the power of TECA’s smaller air conditioner models. With just over a 100 Watts of cooling power, the AHP-451XE is meeting the thermal requirements of this fairly large (over 4’ tall) kiosk. Housing heat sensitive equipment including computing core, printer, imager, and a 15” LCD touchscreen, this kiosk is exposed to high ambient temperatures as well.

Cooling Variable Frequency Drives

Steel Mill Enclosure Cooling:

A major steel company has multiple equipment enclosures, housing 4 variable frequency drives (VFD) each, to control their industrial cranes. The high temperature in the steel mill was causing excessive shutdowns. Compressor-based air conditioners could not survive the electrical enclosures’ harsh ambient environment on the overhead cranes. The only input power available was a widely varying 250 VDC, which complicated things. TECA successfully and affordably customized a flush-mounted (external to enclosure) thermoelectric air conditioner to meet the customer’s needs.

Wastewater Treatment Plant

Wastewater Treatment Plant:

Our customer operates a wastewater treatment plant for a large municipal sanitation district. Operating some of the plant’s equipment is a large-process industrial air compressor. The air compressor’s controls are housed in an outdoor cabinet. Taking advantage of TECA’s NEMA-4/4X, flush-mounted design, the customer has TECA Model FHP-1501XE mounted to the control cabinet. When ambient temperatures rise, the FHP-1501XE keeps the heat-sensitive controls cool while maintaining the cabinet’s NEMA-4 rating. The flush mount design is convenient for the end user because the cabinet’s contents do not need to be disturbed or rearranged to accommodate the air conditioner.

Cooling Input/Output Racks

Drywall Manufacturing: Cooling Input/Output Racks

Several FHP-2250 Air Conditioners are used by our client to keep I/O racks within the operating temperature during peak ambient temperatures. Located in a dusty, high ambient industrial environment, our client originally tried cooling the control cabinets with fans and filters. However, with the ambient temperatures reaching 120F, the I/O racks faulted. Our client has half a dozen gas burning drying chambers, with a TECA FHP-2250 enclosure cooler mounted to each chamber’s control cabinet. The TECA solution is, in our client’s words “best for high ambient, low maintenance and dusty conditions to control interior temperature of these cabinets”.

A big benefit of the FHP-2250 is its flush-mounted design. Since there is not intrusion into the enclosure, equipment is not disturbed, and retro fitting is easy. A closed loop system maintains NEMA-4/4X enclosure ratings. The FHP-2250 is available in several configurations:

Model Number Cooling Capacity
BTU/HR
COP Voltge
VAC (VDC)
Current
AMPS
FHP-2250 1220 0.83 120 3.6
FHP-2250 1250 0.85 (24) 15
FHP-2250 1250 0.85 (48) 8
FHP-2250 (High Capacity) 1715 0.39 120 10.8

Cooling a NEMA-4 Enclosure with Precision

Cooling a NEMA-4 Enclosure with Precision:

Cooling a NEMA-4 Enclosure with Precision   Cooling Enclosure
A flow testing facility required precise heating and cooling of a NEMA-4 enclosure in an outdoor application. The customer’s NEMA-4 instrument box houses very sensitive transducers and data acquisition equipment.

TECA Model AHP-1200XEHC paired with the TC-3400 remote temperature controller protects the enclosure’s contents from extreme temperatures in the ambient. The customer can monitor and set the controller without opening the NEMA-4 enclosure. Custom programming achieves exact set points as specified by the customer. The sealed, industrial grade external fan allows for wash down of the enclosure and exposure to the outdoor environment, all while maintaining a closed loop system.

OUTDOOR KIOSK COOLING

Outdoor Kiosk Cooling:

TECA Model AHP-1200XE air conditioners cool over 30 outdoor electronic information kiosks in dozens of State Parks in the U.S. Our customer launched the first electronic interpretive information program specifically designed for visitors to a State Park system by implementing the kiosks.

This award-winning project has received significant attention across the country and TECA is proud to be part of it. The AHP-1200XE can be customized to fit your kiosk’s needs.

GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY SYSTEM

Gas Chromatography System:

TECA Model AHP-1801XPHC-1 Thermoelectric Air Conditioner is used to enable the safe installation of a gas chromatography system into hazardous locations. Most installations are rated Class 1, Groups C & D, Division II. However in some cases the installations require Group B and/or Group A. TECA’s AHP-1801XPHC-1 maintains the interior of the Process Analyzer Enclosure at a control temperature of around 70o °F.  It meets the various requirements of all the installation environments.

This system is installed in Refining, Petrochemical, Upstream and other applications requiring the aforementioned safety ratings. Controlling the temperature of the equipment enclosure rather than the entire shelter allows for far more economical plant installations even in very cold or very hot environments.

Our customer reports:
“Simply protecting our Process Analyzer Enclosure from direct sunlight and precipitation is enough using the AHP-1801XPHC-1.  The TECA Air Conditioner has plenty of capacity to handle the most demanding environments such as the Texas Gulf Coast and even in Alberta, CA. See the actual plant installation picture where 3 Process Enclosures are shown. The TECA Air Conditioners are clearly evident below each analyzer.  These units have been in operation for more than 2 years without maintenance, without downtime.  This says a lot about the capability and capacity of the TECA product in a tough environment.  And the analyzers have performed flawlessly delivering control quality composition data to the plant process control computer.
