Our customer serves refineries and chemical plants, implementing critical safety control systems. With both outdoor and indoor needs, TECA Model AHP-1800XPHC can be used in either environment, and it can maintain a cabinet rated for CID2 explosion-proof. Among the sensitive equipment TECA’s enclosure cooler protects is a group of programmable logic controllers (PLC). The PLCs need to be reliable, safety certified, and able to withstand rugged conditions. The stakes are high in this application. A chemical analysis service provider used TECA’s thermoelectric air conditioner as part of a larger system. The end user required copper heat sinks instead of aluminum heat sinks. TECA provided this modification to a standard product, the AHP-270XE. This is one example of modifications TECA can accommodate, including black anodizing of aluminum parts, using 316 stainless steel instead of 304, and much more. TECA Model AHP-2259XEHC enclosure cooler is being used to cool data racks on a radar system for military use. The AHP-2259-Series can be powered from 90-264 VAC. The universal input feature makes for easy ‘plug and play’ use in various global locations. Ideal for outdoor applications, power efficiency is increased by as much as 10% in higher ambient temperatures. The AHP-2259-Series can be configured to boost cooling performance or power efficiency, depending on the goals of the end user. Also notable is TECA’s exclusive ECO Mode temperature control feature. This passive cooling feature significantly reduces the need for active cooling, and thus reduces amp draw and the overall cost of ownership.

Bill Pay Terminals, Kiosks

TECA Model AHP-451XE Peltier coolers are protecting over a dozen customized bill-pay kiosks. This example illustrates the power of TECA’s smaller air conditioner models. With just over a 100 Watts of cooling power, the AHP-451XE is meeting the thermal requirements of this fairly large (over 4’ tall) kiosk. Housing heat sensitive equipment including computing core, printer, imager, and a 15” LCD touchscreen, this kiosk is exposed to high ambient temperatures as well.

Satellite Communication

Satellite Communication – Long Service Life:

A testament to TECA quality and reliability, this image shows a 130 foot radio telescope at a research observatory. The red arrow indicates the location of the the TECA air conditioner. TECA’s AHP-1200 is installed there to control the temperature of a 2′ x 2′ x 4′ insulated electronics box . The AHP-1200 runs continuously, 24/7, to control the internal temperature to about +25C. The ambient temperatures range between -10C to +40C.

A company specializing in fleet management and motor pool software required multiple outdoor, self service kiosks to be placed in various environments throughout the USA. TECA’s AHP-470XEHC thermoelectric air conditioner is an ideal solution, providing needed cooling to sensitive parts within the sun-exposed kiosk. The AHP-470XEHC air conditioner cools the kiosk without taking up much space and it is suitable for various environments including NEMA-4 enclosures. Heat/Cool is optional, as are external covers for aesthetic purposes.

Whether space is restricted inside or outside your kiosk, TECA offers three mounting styles for kiosk cooling: Through, Internal and External.

Maintain the temperature of a battery bank in a Class 1 Division 2 explosion proof environment to power portable communications equipment. A special purpose vehicle manufacturer needed to maintain the temperature of a bank of batteries to maintain maximum performance.

With our recommendation, the customer selected the TECA Model AHP-1800XP, because it is the only NEMA4X air conditioner available off-the-shelf, which is also certified for C1D2 use. The power source was able to meet the requirement of operation in a Class 1 Division 2 explosion proof environment, to support portable communications systems at car racing venues.

The 2.4 Meter Mobile SATCOM Tactical Terminal (MSTT) is a lightweight, stand alone, trailer-mounted tri-band SATCOM terminal available to support worldwide, quick deployment satellite communications through military and commercial satellites.

It also uses a customized version of the solid state air conditioner AHP-1801X. It was designed and qualified for worldwide operation in tactical military environments.

PORTABLE SECURITY EQUIPMENT

Site monitor and security equipment for oil fields and transfer stations needed more security. A portable enclosure housing cameras, WI-FI access, antennas and a Mac Mini computer inside leveraging the Mac platform to provide virtually instant access, hi speed, via “Wild Blue”. The system will be like a watchdog that they can strap on wherever they need the monitoring.

With a slight modification an AHP-1200XE thermoelectric cooler provided the best solution while keeping the NEMA-4 rating of the enclosure.
